but of course, ignis doesn't mind the holes in his shirt -- it's easy to mend. besides, having a makeshift silky epaulette over his shoulder feels and looks pretty luxurious, so he'll allow that.

of course, the thing that's surprising is this: on their way to the kitchen, the ladies and gents of the office are clearly coming over to get a closer look at the fox on his shoulder; not that he can blame them, louis is a beautiful little creature, and he can't help a small smile when they start to ask questions, including if it's okay to pet his tails. ]

[knifely]

[ no! no petting his tails! petting his tails is only reserved for people he trusts, and that list can be condensed into one hand. paw? same difference.

for someone with his kind of role and skillset, louis has always been more comfortable out of the spotlight than having attention called on him, unlike william and albert, who were both made for the limelight, so this sudden spat of attention that's coming from the ladies and gents of the office is...

he's not expecting it at all!!

(in hindsight, he should have remembered how popular ignis is in the office... ah... a grave miscalculation...)

but it's still enough for louis to whine and chafe under the onslaught of attention that's far too much stimulation to handle, so instead he bristles, and ignis miiiiight feel a little hint of scrabbling on his shoulder as louis contemplates whether to like. jump off his shoulder and make a run for it. ]

[ ignis can feel it, the tension and the bristling, which is why he smoothly steps away from the reach of others and pleasantly changes the topic -- he can sense louis' testy restlessness, and the fact that touching his tail is a no-go, and allows him room to settle while the others dissipate.

when the makeshift crowd disappears, with more than one wistfully hoping that she could touch the "cute little fox", ignis only smiles. he turns to him after a moment, right back on his way to the pantry. ]

It's a little overwhelming, isn't it?

[ ignis gets a small yip in return, mostly in agreement and just the slightest tickle of relief nudging at the beginnings of a telepathic bond.

their walk continues to the pantry! it is. uneventful.

for the most part.

because the path to the pantry takes them right past albert's office, with its glass window, and suddenly ignis will feel louis's claws dig into his shoulder. hard. louis's tails also go deathly still.

because through the window, louis can see a tiny bunny napping on albert's desk. ]

[ oh --

oh, no. in the whole kerfuffle, he hadn't actually realised that he shouldn't be going past albert's office. the tiny sleeping bunny in albert's office was what caused all of this in the first place.

and also, ouch. ignis only pauses to let him see -- the bunny's nose is wiggling now and then, but he seems to be sleeping deeply. and so he starts to head toward the pantry! ]

[knifely]

[ not quickly enough...

because suddenly there is no longer claws digging into ignis's shoulder since louis has taken the opportunity to make a run for it. his nii-san is there!!! behind glass!! why is he behind glass ;___;

there's a loud thud when louis tries to land on the window ledge and kind of manages to hang onto it with his paws for a moment before gravity does what it's supposed to do, louis tumbling down and landing in a heap, thankfully not injured before he makes a beeline for the door with his swift feet, scrabbling at the door with his claws.

let him in!!!!! ]

Louis -- !

[ the small, quick fox is too deft for him -- and soon enough he's scrabbling at the door. ignis, who has been under instructions to keep them separate no matter what, considering the last time they were together, the bunny was accidentally set on fire...

he goes over to the frantic little fox. apologetically, he says, ]

I'm sorry, Louis. You both have to be separated for just a few hours more.

also, have you ever heard a fox cry, ignis??????

because that's absolutely happening because the door is far too big and doesn't budge even under the effort and the weight of louis's insistent paws, so absolutely ignis is going to hear the faint ak ak ak distressed noises coming from tiny fox!louis.

why a few more hours!!! why!!!! ]
